PHOTOSHOP:

-Photoshop to Illustrator:
When done with Photoshop work and placing into illustrator-Make sure you save work as Photoshop file and send to illustrator. DON’T SAVE AS JPEG.

-Rhino Rendering to Photoshop:
To make renderings look more realistic mess with transparency in Photoshop to see light of background walls applied in rhino.

-Photoshop people to Illustrator:
Magic wand - click on person to see silhouette – windows – paths - make work path - vector around person - export path to illustrator.

-Erase Background Layer-its not needed and not important

-Pixels for portfolio:
Action tool – New Action – Crop to (How ever many DPI) – Click record
*This will always keep pixels in photo even though the photo was cropped.
Click stop action - apply to all the other images – Press Play (Saves you time)

-Grey Images: If image is grey always set to grey scale.

-Crop Resolution: Crop Proper DPI. Click view at 100% to see proper view size. (Online and Print). This is helpful because you can see if your images are too pixilated.

ILLUSTRATOR:

-File open file: Cant change Photoshop files once in illustrator.

-Black arrow: Selects everything
 White arrow: Selects certain things

-Pen tool: Trace silhouettes (easier in Photoshop). You can convert anchor points though and change angles.

-Text along a path (say a circle): Make a circle – Text tool – to path – can write on path.

-Make your own font: Outline silhouette of text – shift control o – you can make your own font.

-Shapes: can make geometries between geometries. Select shapes – path finder – exclude , unite, divide etc.

- Line Weights: can change line weights, can have dotted lines, can have arrows.

DON’T SAVE ILLUSTRATOR AS JPEG

INDESIGN

-Layout generator. Cannot edit or change image in indesign.

Saving Sizes: For portfolio before you place image in indesign, make sure that you save image as proper size for board.

A Master page: It applies certain text or symbols to all pages. If you don’t want the master page to apply to everything just some, click none box and drag it to the page you want master page to not effect.

Crop Images to scale: Control shift

Saving: Save as indesign file.
When printing: save as tif.

Save as both.
