*Have online portfolio and
hardcopy portfolio. (Cargocollective.com-need invite to join) -Think of
Portfolio as a Brand. You are Brand.
*Portfolio needs to make
sense to Non-Architects
*Make sure you are not
pretentious in portfolio. Only show strengths. Future employers want to see
what you are especially good at.
*4 pages for each
project.-12 pages total.
LOGO
-Think of logo for your
Portfolio
-ex:
Writing your name in a specific font.
TONE
-Do you want future
employers to think your work is serious, organic, etc?
-ex:
Everything is black and white conveys seriousness.
WORK
-Selection of work depends
on tone. Make sure you include best work, latest work and favorite work.
TEXT
-No big text. Small
explanations.
LAYOUT
-Select dimensions of layout
pages. Ex: 20 by 27.
-Build vertical grid lines
and then horizontal. Make sure space is equally distributed. Find margins and
find columns within grid. Find layout pattern within grid.
***SAVE GRID so you can add
more pages to portfolio later.
-clean sketches in
Photoshop.
To make Grid in
INDESIGN:
-To
find Vertical Grid lines: Measure Top of paper horizontally. Take that
Measurement and Divide by 12.
-To
find Horizontal Grid Lines: Measure indent on top of page vertically. Take that
vertical indent measurement and divide by 2.
*Save Grid Untouched in
INDESIGN so you can go back with later work and add in portfolio.
